Smiling bird? Mocking bird?
The recurve-billed bush bird that sports a smile curve with his beak reappeared in Columbia after 40-year anonymity.
This photo is the first of its kind of a live bush bird that vanished between 1965 and 2004.
It was discovered by researchers in a 250 acre reserve, next to the Torcoroma Holy Sanctuary near Ocama, a town in Columbia. In 1709, image of Virgin Mary was found here in a tree root as claimed by the locals.
Grazing, deforestation, wildfires, water pollution, human habitats nearby is giving such species a hard time. Searching for new habitats has driven them to near extinction.
Will our children be able to see any most of the species that we see, or only their photos, is only a matter of time.
