A WHO(World Health Organisatin) report has revealed that very year 656,000 people die in China due to air pollution, and 95,600 people due to water pollution. China’s emerged as the fastest growing economy, but it seems to have cost them their lives. Following closely is India with 527,700 deaths due to air pollution.
Outdoor pollution in China is mainly due to sharp increase in automobiles, factories, emerging mega cities. Indoor pollution is due to use of coal, charcoal to keep their houses warm. This is causing a steep rise in cases of respiratory disorders, cardiovascular problems. The worst affected happen to be children, old ones, pregnant women. This is causing China’s State Environmental Protection Agency deep concern, more so as these statistics can cause unrest among citizens.
WHO has 80 environmental experts from all over the world and they have come up with guidelines to check pollution levels so they quality air levels can be maintained saving many lives.
